Caring for Your Valentine’s Flowers
Take off any wrappings and ribbons around flowers. Figure out where the neck of the vase is and bottom of the stem, anything in between as far as leaves, should be pulled off. If you do not, the leaves will decay and spoil the water quickly. If it helps, wrap a loose rubber band around where you are going to cut your stems. Under running water or immersed in a basin of water with a very sharp pair of shears, diagonally cut each stem. Place in the vase, arrange it as necessary. Flowers and especially roses, drink a lot of water so make sure that the water is changed daily, and add a preservative. Keep your arrangement out of the sun and away from any heat source or an extremely warm room Enjoy the color and beauty of your flowers and thank the thoughtful person who sent them!
